Useful Tool: LJArchive
Oct. 2nd, 2008 03:01 amI was doing the rounds of the journals I keep an eye on, and I saw that
copperbadge got hacked, and lost all of his posts. Five years worth of stuff gone like that. It's truly tragic, but I thought, since people don't seem to be aware of it, that I'd mention a useful little tool that you can use to backup all your LJ posts and comments to your computer. I just start up the program and run it once every couple of weeks, just in case.
It's called LJArchive, and is found:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ljarchive/
and
http://fawx.com/software/ljarchive/
It does unfortunately have some bugs with Vista, and while some people claim it works fine, on others machines it doesn't. It definitely works on XP though, and I've gotten it to work (if you just click 'continue' through error messages) on Vista.
And now I am going to bed. Really.
