Weekend Rec: Rictus (NCIS)
Jan. 11th, 2009 08:12 pmNCIS is my shiny new plaything, and I recently grabbed five years worth of episodes and am methodically working my way through them. This does mean I have a hankering for new fic, and have been reading my way through anything I can lay my sticky little paws on.
This is the first long, plotty gen fic I've found in this fandom. There's probably more, but I've yet to excavate it. There are an awful lot of fics that explore this particular aspect of Tony's backstory (why he left Baltimore), but this one, to me, does it best. The background crime is intriguing, complicated, and has Human motivation behind it, which is something that all too many writers who attempt to write crime forget.
Sequitor, the writer, seems to have disappeared somewhat from fic writing circles, which is a shame, but you should give some of their other fics a read as well.
Rictus.
