Ok, I promised I'd rec this, so I'm going to. I stumbled across this fic (well, three fics) on the Archive Of Our Own, which is proving surprisingly fruitful when looking for older fics that have generally disappeared or were on obscure archives.

A common AU for SG1 fans who were also fans of the Tok'ra/Sam Carter story thread is that Jolinar somehow survived. A lot of them are pretty similar variations on the theme. This is the first fic I'd read which is long, involved, and not only goes into a very tasty story that spans months about how Sam deals with what's happened, but also what happens to her team, left behind, and what would have happened in the series had they NOT made contact with the Tok'ra in the way that it happened in canon.

For some reason, the AO3 page lists this as an incomplete series. It isn't. It's definitely complete. Clear a few days and enjoy yourself.

The Compromised Trilogy

I got all nostalgic recently by watching the Stargate episode "Ripple Effect" (aka, "Look, we're sorry we killed off these popular characters... here! See them one more time!"). The Stargate SG1 fandom was the last fandom I got seriously involved with. I created, and was responsible for, the SamandMartouf mailing list's archive. Well, time passed, enthusiasm (on the list's part) waned, and I made unpopular decisions like refusing to upgrade to an auto-archive system (because I'm an enormous snob who believes in the editorial process). I got into a bit of a snipe with some folks on the mailing list back in 2007, who claimed I was uncontactable, and that the freesite I was using was full of spyware. I got fed up getting told that I'd apparently infuriated people and caused such trouble that I took the site down completely.

No one noticed or commented. That probably says something.

Aaaanyway, back to my story. I got nostalgic after rewatching Ripple Effect, and realised that it was kinda hard to find specific S/M stuff these days. Except, hmm... I dug through one of my older external harddrives (one I use for backing up stuff from three computers ago) and discovered the site in its final form, sealed up in an archive file. So I decided to restore it.

It all works, though the site-contact details are dead and won't be resurrected. It's a legacy document, really. People worked hard, wrote this stuff, and I took it down in what was admittedly a fit of pique. So it'll sit here, and if people want to read it... they can.
